protip_icon Trivia
Over 5,000 years have passed since onions were cultivated, but our ancestors consumed wild onions long beforehand.

With so many benefits, why not make the best use of this? Let’s dive straight in to find out how to make onion juice in the correct way.

How To Make Onion Juice At Home

Making fresh onion juice in the confines of our home is no rocket science! All you require are a few onions, a juicer, lots of patience, and the ability to handle the strong odor of onion that might burn your eyes!

Ready for the challenge? Go ahead and have a look:

You Will Need
  • 2-3 medium size onions
  • A sharp knife
  • A juicer
  • A medium-size glass jar
What You Need To Do
  1. Start the process by peeling an onion.
  2. Place the peeled onion in the sink under running water to rinse it. This step will help you clean the vegetable properly by getting rid of all types of dirt and flecks of skin.
  3. Take a fresh paper towel and pat the onion dry.
  4. Cut the dried onion into end-to-end quarters using a sharp knife.
  5. Now, put an onion quarter inside the chute of the juicer and turn the device on. It will smash the vegetable by putting force on it and extract the juice completely. Juice up the other quarters one by one in the same manner.
  6. Once you are done with juicing the entire onion, clean and wash your juicer properly. You may also have to dip the device in hot lathered water as well as scrub it for quite a few minutes to get rid of the strong, long-lasting aroma of the vegetable.
  7. Collect the fresh juice and transfer it to a glass jar for further use.

Note: Apart from a juicer, a blender (hand-operated or machine) or even a grater can be used for making onion juice. In the case of a blender, you have to follow the aforementioned procedure exactly for preparing the onion for juicing. And if you are juicing an onion using a grater, there is no need to cut off the opposite ends of the vegetable.

protip_icon Quick Tip
